What Is Information Technology?

Information is a vital resource in development activities of any society. All our economic and social progress depends very significantly on the transfer of commercial, scientific and technical information.
 
Information Technology is the use of computers to store and process facts and figures into a useful, organized, form. Data is the raw material numbers and facts. Information is the raw material organized in a useful way.
 
The term “Information Technology” or IT to refer to an entire industry and actuality, information technology is the use of computers and software to manage information. In most organization, this is referred to as Management Information Services (MIS) or simply Information Services (IS). 

The information technology department of a large company would be responsible for storing, protecting, processing and transmitting the information as necessary and later retrieving it whenever is needed.
 
Data is the recording of any meaningful event in any understandable form and the method use used to collect and store the data, process the data into information and communicate the information all the world is Information Technology.
