Definition of information system
Information System can be defined as the interaction of man and machine which under man’s control gathers data and broadcasts information.“Information System is the study of complementary networks of hardware and software that people and organizations use to collect, filter, process, create, and distribute data”

“Information System is a set of interrelated component working together to collect, retrieve, process, store and disseminate information for the purpose of facilitating planning, controlling, coordination and decision making”.

The main purpose of information system is to provide information to its user. To achieve this objective the data must be evaluated, analyzed and processed to produce meaningful and useful information. Information systems plays very important role, governments use information systems to manage the economy, organizations use information systems to manage their operations, it informs the user of opportunities as well as problems in advance.
Information system can also be defined as a set of devices procedures and operating systems, designed around user-based criteria to produce information and communicate it to the user for planning, controlling and performance.

• Hardware – The physical devices• Software – Which instruct the hardware what to do
• Data – Information manipulate by the software
• Users - All people involved
• Process – Steps to accomplish the task
